Caribbean spiny lobsters occur throughout the shallow tropical and sub-tropical western Atlantic, from the coasts of Brazil up to North Carolina in the USA.
During the day they hide from predators under reef crevices. Only at night do they come out to search for food. Using powerful mouths they break open shellfish and sea urchins for food.
